NAD+ The Wonder Molecule

NAD+

NAD+ infusions and intramuscular (IM) injections are available at Elite Infusion Therapies!

This wonder molecule is a coenzyme, that is found in all living cells and is critical for cellular functioning.  NAD+, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is the active form of Vitamin B3. Access to NAD+ is increasing, as the potential benefits of NAD+ are being realized.  Benefits often include reducing inflammation, improving energy levels, enhancing cognitive function, preventing chronic disease and more.

Accumulating evidence indicates that a decrease in NAD+ levels contribute to the development of age-associated symptoms; likely having effects on our immune system, neurologic function, cardiovascular health, to name a few.

NAD+ is also critical for the activity of sirtuins (protiens) which have global anti-aging properties. With aging, NAD+ in our bodies decreases with an incomplete understanding as to how and why this happens.

By supplying NAD+ through an infusion, your body absorbs the highest possible amount of NAD+, as opposed to taking this orally, in which it is only partially absorbed.

Benefits You May Experience
with NAD+

Metabolism and Energy

  • NAD+ is found in all living cells and used as a critical co-enzyme in metabolism.  NAD+ had the potential to boost energy, fight fatigue, and improve mood.

Anti-aging

  • NAD+ has been promoted as an anti-aging powerhouse. Aging is mainly induced by stress factors such as damaged DNA, inflammation and oxidative stress.  NAD+ participates in redox reactions, cellular repair, and much more but our amount of NAD+ declines as we age.  Low NAD+ has been linked to oxidate/free radical damage including age related illness such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and heart disease.  NAD+ supplementation may help fight the aging process.

Promotes healthy brain function

  • NAD helps to regenerate cells and protect from cellular damage. NAD+ has the potential to Improve your mental cognition, slow cognitive decline, find greater mental clarity, better concentration, improved memory and mood.

Combat Inflammation

  • NAD+ promotes cellular metabolism, cellular regeneration, cellular repair and can help reduce inflammation.

  • Studies underway are looking at NAD+ therapy in conditions including: aging, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, post covid syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, high blood pressure, heart failure, substance use disorders and more!  There have been several studies of human diseases in mice models, that have shown benefit (see resources page).

At Elite Infusion Therapies,
we provide customized IV treatments administered by licensed medical professionals to enhance your
well-being.

Recommendations:

  • We recommended starting will the lowest dose and work up based on how you tolerate the infusion.

  • Most patient's tolerate the infusion well.

    • Side effects may include: headache fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath, chills, body aches, and constipation. Some reports show increased plasma bilirubin, and decreased levels of gamma glutamyl transferase, lactate dehydrogenase, and aspartate aminotransferase.

    • Side effects, if they occur, are often short lived.

  • What to expect: After you have had your initial consultation (either in person or telehealth), if appropriate you can schedule your first infusion. Prior to your first infusion, the nurse practitioner will confirm your health history, indication for treatment, and that you are feeling well for your infusion.

  • Your vitals will be taken and then your IV will be started.

  • NAD+ infusion will start. This infusion is done slowly, over 1.5 to 4 hours. If you are tolerating the infusion, the rate can be increased, to decrease your time in the clinic.

  • How often to get these infusions? The duration of NAD+ IV therapy depends on each individual’s health story. Generally, when initiating, it is recommended you schedule 1 to 2 infusions per week for 4-6 weeks. Maintenance can take place after this, every 4-6 weeks. More frequent infusions may be needed if you have chronic illness or high oxidative stressors.

  • How long do these infusions take: Plan to be at the clinic at least 4 hours for infusions of 250mg and 500mg. Plan to be at clinic for 6 hours for 750mg and 1000mg.

  • NAD+ is available in 250mg, 500mg, 750mg and 1000mg per infusion.

  • Alternatively, some patients prefer an intramuscular injection may be done of 50mg or a slow IV push of 100mg over 20 minutes.
